For many years, the Ram has been a top competitor in the full-size heavy-duty pickup sector and for good reason. It offers outstanding towing and hauling capability, great off-roading potential with the right configurations, and a diesel engine option for exceptional fuel efficiency and power.

The 2017 RAM 2500 delivers a comfortable and quiet ride, and this year's model offers new styling, a special off-road package, and makes a 6.4L V8 engine standard on more packages as well as offering upgraded suspension on some models.

Body Styles and Options

There are a metric ton of configurations available for the new Ram 2500. The basic seven trim levels include the Tradesman base level, the SLT, the Big Horn or Lone Star, the Laramie, the Laramie Longhorn, the Limited, and the Power Wagon levels. There are also three cab styles, three different engine choices, three-bed sizes, and two transmission options.

At the base level, you get automatic headlights, a split front seat, and a stereo system with a USB port, an auxiliary jack, and six speakers. You can choose between cloth or vinyl upholstery, and you get power accessories as well as power adjust heated mirrors, or crew cab versions.

Higher-level features run the range from steel and alloy wheels to integrated trailer brakes, power rear windows, keyless entry and ignition, and heated seats. Plus, it provides full infotainment features, including Bluetooth, a satellite radio, a touchscreen interface, HD Radio, and navigation. You can also have extra power outlets, premium upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, spray-in bed liner, remote start, power adjust driver memory settings, automatic wipers, high beams, and more. 

Engine and Performance 

The new Ram 2500 comes in a range of engine styles, with the basic being a V8 at 5.7L delivering 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed auto. It's available in regular gas or natural gas. You can also get a 6.4L 

V8 engine exerting 350 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque, or with the right transmission 370/800. Finally, a 6.7L Cummins diesel is available, which puts out astonishing power and torque with great fuel efficiency.
