2021 Jeep Cherokee Review
The 2021 Jeep Cherokee offers a combination of excellent off-road capability, powerful on-road performance, and a bevy of infotainment and safety features.
Drivers in New Holland, Lancaster, and Reading can find out more about the new Cherokee with our 2021 Jeep Cherokee review from New Holland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
Cherokee Performance and Capability
The Cherokee comes with a four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower, but you can upgrade to a 271-horsepower, V6 with exceptional passing power and acceleration. There’s also an available turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 270 horsepower. All engine variants mate to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
When properly equipped, the Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 pounds. For off-roading, the Cherokee offers multiple four-wheel-drive systems that use the five-mode Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. Active Drive I and Active Drive II provide specific features like low-range gears and hill descent control. For more rugged environments, choose the Trailhawk, a capable off-road-oriented trim that uses an advanced four-wheel-drive system, an off-road suspension, and all-terrain tires.
Cherokee Space and Comfort
The Cherokee seats five people in two rows of seats with cushioned, supportive seats. Adults have ample head- and legroom in both the front and rear seats, and there’s enough space in the back to stretch out and relax on long trips. Several interior upgrades are available, such as a dual-pane panoramic moonroof, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and supple nappa leather upholstery. The second row slides to offer more passenger or cargo space.
Behind the rear seats, the Cherokee has 25.8 cubic feet of space. The Cherokee has an adjustable cargo load floor that expands the capacity to 27.6 cubic feet. If you fold down the second row, the space opens to 54.7 cubic feet, which is enough for luggage, camping gear, and sports equipment. A power liftgate and a hands-free power liftgate are available for convenient loading and unloading.
Cherokee Technology and Safety
The Cherokee comes with the intuitive Uconnect® infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen and Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration, a feature that syncs your phone to the system to stream music and media. An 8.4-inch touchscreen is optional, as are a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD Radio™, and navigation. You can also get a nine-speaker Alpine® premium stereo system for concert-quality sound on the road.
For safety, the Cherokee includes a rearview camera and numerous driver-assistance technology. Forward-collision warning is included, which alerts you to potential frontal crashes and applies the brakes to lessen the impact. Lane-departure warning is also standard, which alerts you if you drift out of your lane on the highway. Optional features include automatic high-beam headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic parking assist.
